To play with a Chinese Diabolo, you can follow these general steps:
1. Setup:
Hold the two sticks in your hands and attach the string to the diabolo. The diabolo should be placed horizontally on the string.
2. Basic Techniques:
Start Spinning: Hold the sticks in your hands and give a flick of your wrists to start the diabolo spinning.
Acceleration: You can increase the speed of the diabolo by moving your hands in a controlled manner, making the diabolo spin faster.
3. Control and Tricks:
Vertical Bounces: Tug the string slightly on one side to make the diabolo bounce vertically. With practice, you can learn to control the height and timing of the bounces.
Whips and Scoops: Use the sticks to whip or scoop the diabolo. This can create interesting patterns and movements.
Stick Grinds: Slide the sticks along the string while the diabolo is spinning. This creates a grinding effect and can be used for various tricks.
Tosses and Catches: With practice, you can learn to toss the diabolo into the air and catch it back on the string.
4. Advanced Tricks:
Once you've mastered the basics, you can move on to more complex tricks like various types of tosses, integrals (where the string is looped around the diabolo while it's in the air), and more.
